As a technologist and teacher, Mr. Hazlet has enjoyed teaching on three islands of the Hawaiian chain: Lana’i, Maui and Oahu. Branden brings innovative problem solving and a practical hands-on approach to his planning for Maui Preparatory’s technology infrastructure. As an educator he focuses on helping students draw out their analytic and creative thinking skills to prepare themselves for the opportunities and challenges they will encounter during lifetimes of unprecedented global change. Branden is proud to be part of a school-wide team that embraces educational technology as both necessary and fun for creating the rich multi-media classroom experience that allows modern students to thrive. As global trends continue to intertwine cultures and economies across the world, he looks forward to seeing Maui Preparatory’s students employ their strong synthesis of critical thinking, clear communication and adroit technology skills to solve problems and enrich the world.
Mr. Hazlet did his undergraduate studies at the University of California, San Diego and his teacher preparation course work through Chaminade University of Honolulu. The focus of Mr. Hazlet’s Masters research in Educational Technology at the University of Hawaii Manoa is on developing collaborative networks for educators and technologists to evaluate technology investments. Mr. Hazlet is a member of Teachers Without Borders, The International Society for Technology in Education, and The Schools of the Future initiative, through which he completed a residency at High-Tech High of San Diego.
In his free time, Branden loves being outdoors with his partner Carla while playing with their children Eli, Muriel and Finley.
